This tiny female otter pup was found alone near Tofino and quickly transferred to our Rescue Centre thanks to the swift actions of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and our rescue team. This pup requires 24-hour care from our dedicated team. Sea otter pups are entirely dependent on their mothers for survival. They cannot dive, hunt, or regulate their body temperature on their own, making this pup’s situation particularly critical. She needs constant care, including specialized feeding, medical attention, and round-the-clock monitoring.

Symbolic Adoption

You can help us care for Tofino and the more than 100 marine mammals we rescue, rehabilitate and release every year by symbolically adopting her today with a small donation to the rescue centre.

Patient Updates

She is readily eating the specialized formula and has started to interact with her toys. She continues to be under 24-hour care.

She is steadily improving and growing stronger each day. Her daily routine includes regular veterinary check-ups, bottle feeding, swims, grooming, and enrichment activities.

Watch a recording of our Instagram Live Q&A where you got to meet the otter pup and watch her get a health check by Dr. Marty.

The girl really appears to be enjoying her many daily swims! We love watching her blow bubbles and learn to dive for her toys below the surface.
