This is a large pre-release pool that houses many patients. Animals that have already demonstrated that they can eat fish on their own are placed in a larger pool like this where they can learn how to compete for fish and socialize with other harbour seals.

Patient Progress
Pre-Release Pool Henry Island Reefs has demonstrated that he is confident eating fish on his own and that he can compete for food with other harbour seals. He has been moved to a larger pool where he can further test and improve his skills. He will move between pools as he progresses further and develops his skills until he reaches his release weight. It can take just a few weeks or several months before a patient is ready for release, depending on health status and treatment plan, weight gain and transport availability.

Henry has officially graduated fish school and is eating on his own! He has joined Storm in the Cali pool, gaining weight and learning how to compete for fish in his new space.
Henry has moved to the Harbour/Ellie pools now that he’s eating quickly and confidently, he’s joined by Storm and Eleanor where they now have two pools to choose from!
Henry is now in Rockfish! He’s gotten much bigger and now can enjoy a lot more swimming space with new individuals.
Henry is now in Stickleback! He’s become a quick and confident eater an has been moved to a pool with pups more up to his speed.
