Meet Sdlaana, our first harbour seal pup of the 2026 season! He was admitted severely underweight and dehydrated, and our team is focused on stabilizing him and supporting his recovery step by step.
Named Sdlaana, which means "survivor" in the Haida language.
You can help us care for Sdlaana and the more than 100 marine mammals we rescue, rehabilitate and release every year by symbolically adopting him today with a small donation to the rescue centre.
Weaning Sdlaana is still being fed a zoological milk formula, but as his teeth are beginning to erupt, his diet is being supplemented with fish. Soon, he will enter fish school where he will learn how to eat fish on his own.

Sdlaana is continuing to make great progress, growing stronger and brighter every day! He has now moved out of the hospital and into a rehabilitation tub, where he loves to swim!

Sdlaana is doing great and is about to start weaning onto a diet of herring, herring, and more herring!
Sending lots of love and heartfelt good wishes to Sdlaana for a very speedy and long lasting recovery! Looking forward to learning that she’s been successfully rehabilitated and returned to the ocean to take up her wild and free life once again!
