Once a patient has spent some time in quarantine and been given a clean bill of health, they are moved to a larger and deeper tub and leave quarantine. Here they can improve their skills until they are moved to a pool with other harbour seals.
Pre-Release Pool Golden Monkey has demonstrated that she is confident eating fish on her own. She has been moved to a larger pool where she can learn how to compete for fish with other harbour seals. She will move between pools as she progresses further and develops her skills until she reaches her release weight. It can take just a few weeks or several months before a patient is ready for release, depending on health status and treatment plan, weight gain and transport availability.
Looks like Golden Monkey is finally figuring out fish school!
