Patients that have already demonstrated that they can eat fish on their own are placed in a pool where they can learn how to compete with other animals. This is one of the smaller pools with a haul-out platform in the centre. It can only fit a few animals and is a good starting point for patients that have never been housed with another seal.

"Training" Pool Oatmeal has demonstrated that she is confident eating fish on her own. She has been moved to a small pool that fits up to 3 animals where she can learn how to compete for fish with other harbour seals. She will move to a larger pool once she is confident enough.

Patient Updates

Oatmeal has made it into a training pool! For the first time, she's with a friend now. Jitterbug has helping her figure out how to compete for food as sharing is not really a thing among seals...

    You’ve been at MMRC for a couple weeks now so I bet you are feeling better and growing stronger and stronger each day. They will take the best care of you and give you all the help you need to get well soon. I was a preemie and had to fight to have the wonderful life i have and i bet you can do the same.
