This is a large pre-release pool that houses many patients. Animals that have already demonstrated that they can eat fish on their own are placed in a larger pool like this where they can learn how to compete for fish and socialize with other harbour seals.

Story

Bagged Milk was found with a severe injury to one of her eyes. She was admitted to the rescue centre and has been receiving dedicated care from our veterinary team.

Patient Progress

Pre-Release Pool Bagged Milk has demonstrated that she is confident eating fish on her own and that she can compete for food with other harbour seals. She has been moved to a larger pool where she can further test and improve her skills. She will move between pools as she progresses further and develops her skills until she reaches her release weight. It can take just a few weeks or several months before a patient is ready for release, depending on health status and treatment plan, weight gain and transport availability.

Bagged Milk is doing great! She is learning to compete with for fish with her pool mate Maple, and her surgical site is healing well.

Bagged Milk is progressing well and is now in a pre-release pool where she will have to compete for fish with the other seals.

Bagged Milk is getting closer to release each day!
