Pre-Release Pool Sean Cannery has demonstrated that he is confident eating fish on his own. He has been moved to a larger pool where he can learn how to compete for fish with other harbour seals. He will move between pools as he progresses further and develops his skills until he reaches his release weight. It can take just a few weeks or several months before a patient is ready for release, depending on health status and treatment plan, weight gain and transport availability.
Sean was malnourished when he was admitted. He is being fed a milk formula (5 times a day), and he has already gained a little weight. He is also being treated with antibiotics, and staff are keeping a close eye on him.
