Meet our first harbour seal pup of the season, Marzipan. He's a preemie, covered in the white, soft fur that would normally cover him only in his mother's womb. As a preemie, his lungs aren't properly developed and he is receiving supplemental oxygen. He's in critical condition... but he's beautiful 💙

Marzipan continues to be in critical condition. Staff are working hard to stabilize him as he continues to receive treatment and fluids to support his recovery.

Looking at your pictures all I see is a precious innocent pup. Knowing you are in a better place is the only way I can stop my heart from hurting. As a preemie myself it makes me sad to know you had to suffer at all. You were in the best care at MMRC and I know they did all they could to save you. Rest in peace sweet Marzipan and know you were loved.
I am so sad this beautiful, little, harbour seal didn’t make it. Be assured we know the staff and volunteers at MMRC did their best for this precious creature. We must believe, Marzipan, is in a better place now, and at least he is no longer suffering. Thank you, MMRC for all your efforts.
